At first glance, Bluey just seems like a regular kid show with talking dogs and learning manners. Although, the closer you look, you will see that Bluey has everything for everybody of all ages! It shows the struggles of being a parent, the difficulty of making friends, dealing with social anxiety, and understanding how to enjoy the simple things in life.
Summary
In season one, the show was simply about the Heeler family playing games and having fun. The Heeler family consists of Bandit, the fun dad, Chilli, the responsible but also fun mom, Bingo, the little sister with tons of energy, and Bluey the older sister who is still learning how to be responsible. The episode would usually begin with Bluey and Bingo playing with their dad or mom, playing games such as make-believe or just bouncing a balloon to keep it off the ground. Episodes generally stayed the same, until the episode, “Copycat”. This episode started with Bluey copying her dad until she noticed an injured bird outside. Bluey tried taking it to the vet, but the bird sadly didn’t make it. Bluey was sad but soon got over it with a game with her sister and mom. This episode cause a shift in the usual format for the later Bluey episodes, leaning more into real world problems and things that only adults could relate and understand.
Season two, this is where the show started not only becoming something for kids to watch but becoming something for parents to watch with their kids. They still stick to the same format for most episodes but add episodes for parents to understand to true meaning of the scene. The best example of this is the episode “Baby Race”. The episode begins with Bluey, Bingo, and their mom playing at a park. Bluey keeps talking about being the first or better at swinging on the monkey bars. This progresses to a story about when Chilli started as a mother. The episode shows how Bluey as a baby progressed slightly slower than the other kids. Chilli, wanting to keep up with the other mothers tries her hardest to make sure Bluey keeps up with the other kids but it doesn’t work as well. This causes Chilli to begin feeling inadequate as a mother. this was until one of the mothers goes and talks to Chilli and says to her, “You’re doing great”. As the other mother said this, she looked directly at the view. This scene was for every woman starting as a mother to tell them that they are doing great. This is where most parents began understanding the show Bluey for what it truly was. The creator of the show, Joe Brumm said that Bluey is a show that is him combining the elements of parenthood and childhood memories. This season is where the show really got popular with many people of all ages.
Season three, the final season of Bluey, is where the show became the most iconic. The episodes became more emotional and more relateable to feelings and experiences. They had shown things like feeling burned out when dealing with kids, dealing with work and kids, miscarriage and the effects of it. Finally, the plot of the last episode, moving away from home. The episode, “The Sign” tackles two important topics that most adults go through in their life. The episode begins with the family preparing a wedding for Bandit’s brother “Rad” and Chilli’s friend “frisky”. Bluey is sad that she has to move away from her friends and family, even though Bandit and Chilli try to cheer her up. But, Chilli is also not fully okay with moving. Bluey goes to school where she learns the pharse, ” We’ll see”. Later in the episode, Frisky is having problems with Rad wanting to move for his job and not telling her. Frisky gets upset and storms off to different parts of the city to relax. Chilli, Bluey, and Bingo go look for Frisky and find her on top of a hiking spot. Frisky confesses she has worries for her marriage but Bluey tells her that we’ll see. Understanding that life might not go as planned but you’ll have to see what happenes next. Frisky feels confident and the wedding is back on. After the wedding was over, the family packes up their stuff and got ready to move. Until, Bandit got a call and found out the buyers does not want the house anymore and they didn’t have to move. The family is excited by news then plays and unpacks until it turns night. Bluey is happy but just glad to be home with her family.
Bluey hands down is the best kids’ show I have watched in a long time. The show had great animation, great use of colors, backgrounds, plot and character development. The show might seem silly with talking dogs but people cried over this show just from some of the episodes. A 10/10 would not even be my true rating for this amazing show. Every episode can show the times of being a kid or being a new parent. Bluey is a show that is just made to make people feel every single healthy emotion.
I recommend this show to anyone for its nice wholesome family moments, great visuals, and great emotion. I give this show a 10/10.
