Emily Wants to Play is an indie survival horror game made in 2015 that was popular for its iconic horror elements and jump scares. The game begins with the player, a pizza delivery guy, who has to deliver a pizza to a stigmatized property where a crime case where a young girl killed her mother and father and then herself. Details in the order had told him to walk into the house, upon entering the house the door closes behind him and locks suddenly which the one responsible for this is Emily. While exploring the house he discovers 3 living dolls, one being a Porcelain doll named Kiki, a clown doll named Mr. Tatters, and a Ventriloquist dummy named Chester.
As the hours go by the grandfather clock chimes and Emily wants to play a series of childish games with you and her dolls. The games being peek-a-boo, redlight greenlight, and tag – making the wrong mood could lead to the pizza man’s death but if the man is able to survive 11pm through 6pm they have agreed to release him. While exploring the house you can discover audio tapes and notes around the house stating that Emily was mentally ill and that she had suffered from depression, the only outlet to her own comfort was the dolls that she had found in the basement.
When going deeper into the house you also learned that once they had moved into the new house, Emily never liked the new house and would often act erratically and violently towards her parents, her pet dog that she had killed, and other children at school; due to this, they chose to lock Emily in the basement. This was during the time when Emily had found the dolls and they had mysteriously been moving around in the house without touching them and Emily had escaped from the basement by creating a giant hole in the floor which leads to her bedroom. Suddenly, Emily was found dead and died from unknown circumstances and her parents decided to move away, a month later while they were moving the parents had been murdered by Emily’s ghost. Once the pizza delivery guy finally escapes, he called the police and all they found were the three dolls which did not show signs of it being cursed of any sort.
I personally believe that this is a great game to play if you like a good story and enjoy the thrill of being scared! The jumpscares are really good and the atmosphere is very creepy with its sounds and layout of the house. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new horror game if they are looking for nostalgic graphics or a good scare.
