When people think of SpongeBob, they usually think of him as a silly guy who likes bubbles, jelly fishing, and working at the “Krusty Krab”. But what people forget about him is that he is the most loyal and hardworking sponge you will ever see. Spongebob might be a silly guy, but in this movie you will see that he is not only a silly, goofy guy but also the best goofy goober, legendary, employee in the whole sea.
Summary
The movie begins with a gang of pirates at sea and one of them spots a man on a rowboat with a treasure chest. They take him on board and the captain opens the chest and sees the tickets to the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. They set sail to their nearby movie theater as they sing the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song. They grab their popcorn and sit down to start the movie. The SpongeBob SquarePants movie begins with us heading straight down to the bottom of the sea, where we see the Krusty Krab being surrounded by police. The owner of the restaurant, Mr. Krabs, tells the reporters that there is a situation in the Krusty Krab and he called the manager to handle it. SpongeBob arrives and Mr. Krabs tells him that the customer didn’t have any cheese on his Krabby Patty and SpongeBob goes in to fix the situation. SpongeBob talks to the customer named Phil and with complete focus puts a slice of cheese on the Patty. SpongeBob exits the restaurant, people cheering, but it turns out it was all a dream. SpongeBob wakes up excited for the day that Mr. Krabs decides who will become manager of the Krusty Krab as he thinks he is guaranteed to get the promotion. SpongeBob gets ready for the day and goes outside to talk to his neighbors, Squidward then Patrick and heads down to the Krusty Krab while singing the Goofy Goober theme song. As Mr. Krabs talks to a reporter about the opening of a second Krusty Krab, Plankton, a rival of Mr. Krabs, looks from his restaurant and gets upset about all the success that Krabs is getting. Plankton is soon reminded that he still has a plan to steal the Krabby Patty formula. After realizing the success of the plan, Plankton shouts about how he will take over the world before being stepped on by SpongeBob on his way to work. As Mr. Krabs is about to announce the manager of the Krusty Krab and says it’s Squidward, SpongeBob gets excited thinking that Mr. Krabs said it was him. SpongeBob was soon told that he was not picked because he acted like a kid and was ready. SpongeBob hears the walks away in a sad state before Patrick glides in and destroys the stage that Mr. Krabs was standing on and causes a fire. Later at night, Plankton heads to the castle of King Neptune and swiftly steals the Crown of Neptune. To drown his sorrows, SpongeBob heads to Goofy Goober to eat ice cream, meets Patrick, and eats so much ice cream that they get tipsy and fall asleep. SpongeBob wakes up in a tired and angry state where he realizes that Mr. Krabs didn’t make him manager. Soon, Neptune arrives at the Krusty Krab for Mr. Krabs that was framed for stealing and selling Neptune’s crown to Shell City. Neptune is ready to execute Mr. Krabs, Spongebob comes and tells Neptune that he can go to Shell City to get back the crown and save Mr. Krabs in 6 days. With the help of Patrick, they go to the Patty wagon to head to Shell City.
They stop at a far off gas station where they get their ride robbed and have to resume on foot. Plankton, realizing that SpongeBob might save Mr. Krabs sends a hunter to stop SpongeBob and Patrick. They soon find their ride but the key to it is inside a tough guy bar. With a good distraction, Patrick steals the key back and the ride on to Shell City. The next day, Plankton steals the Krabby Patty formula and makes buckets to put on peoples’ heads to control them. As they drive on a dangerous road, Patrick finds an ice cream stand, which turns out to be a trap of a monster. They escape the monster but lose their vehicle in the process. In the mist of self doubt, SpongeBob and Patrick give up. But before they do, the daughter of King Neptune, princess Mindy told them that everyone in the City of Bikini Bottom needs their help. As they left, Plankton has taken over the City and has everyone under his control. SpongeBob seeing this still believes he can’t do this but to boost his confidence, Mindy put seaweed on Spongebob’s face and Patrick’s face and tells them that they’re men because of the seaweed mustache and they drop down to the monster pit to continue their journey to Shell City. In their belief that they are invincible, they avoid and befriend the monsters and make their way closer to Shell City. However as soon as they were on their way, they got stopped by the hunter that was tracking them the whole way there. The hunter accidentally reveals that Plankton stole the Crown and tries to crush Spongebob and Patrick. But the hunter was stomped on by a Giant man in deep diving gear and took Spongebob and Patrick to his lair. The Giant puts them under a heat lamp to dry them up and make them into beach souvenirs. Before they fully dry up, they realize that they made it to Shell City despite being a couple of kids. They shed a single tear and sang the Goofy Goober theme song, one last time before they dried up completely. Everyone in the movie theater starts to cry until one of them realizes that the tear ran down the cable and causes smoke to activate the water sprinkler, hydrating SpongeBob and Patrick. With the help of other sea animals that got hydrated, grabbed the crown, and escaped to head home. With the help of David Michael Hasselhoff, they make it back to Bikini Bottom.
King Neptune returns to execute Mr. Krabs but SpongeBob and Patrick come back just in time to give back the crown. But before they can celebrate, Plankton puts a bucket on Neptune’s head and turns him into one of his minions. Even though SpongeBob lost, he still was glad that he proved everyone wrong that he is just a kid and with the power of being a Goofy Goober, he sang with a laser guitar, freed everyone under control and stopped Plankton. After saving Mr. Krabs, Spongebob is promoted and says, “This is the greatest day of my life.”
My Opinion
In my opinion this movie was great. Every scene, joke, and character just reminded me of a relaxing Saturday morning watching SpongeBob and eating some Capt Crunch for breakfast. This movie was so nostalgic to watch and put me at ease. The movie also shows that just no matter how old you are you can make a difference. The scenes animation and lighting were so amazing and really showed the high production during that time. I love this movie every second I see it. I give this movie a 10/10.
