Christmas is the time for togetherness and good will towards man. However, sometimes people don’t feel that way. Sometimes people don’t want to be happy and want everyone else to be sad. But the best way to help those people, is to show the kindness they never got. Christmas isn’t about the present, the tree, or the feasts. But it is truly about family, friends, and being kind to those who need it.
Summary
The movie begins snow falling down on the town of “Who-ville” and the Whos preparing for Christmas. Everyone is kind and everyone enjoying that Christmas is so close. But as the snow falls, the mountain of the Grinch is revealed. The Grinch rudely wakes up to the Christmas songs from his alarm clock. He calls his dog Max to make his coffee and starts his morning. As he heads to the kitchen for breakfast, he sees that there is no food left. He realizes that he has to get more food and heads down to Who-ville. we question why he doesn’t like Christmas, but it’s because his heart is two sizes, too small. As he walks through town, he causes trouble for the people until he gets to the store. The Grinch finds what he needs and leaves the store without paying.
We cut to Cindy Lou’s mother making breakfast for her kids. Cindy Lou heads outside and races across town to get to the mail box. She crashes into the Grinch and asks if he sees her letter. She wants a wish from Santa but Grinch tells her that no one has seen him. He heads to his house and gets a poster announcing a three times bigger Christmas. Night falls and the lights of Who-ville begin to glow.
As the Grinch looks out to the light and feels a pain that comes from his past. He heads inside, reminding himself it’s better to be alone. Cindy Lou puts on multiple layers of clothes to head to the North Pole. But her mother tells her that it would take her too long to get there. So instead she rethinks her plan to talk to Santa. The next morning, The Grinch and Max try to find out what they are going to do for the day. But The Grinch feels a shake in the cave and sees that The Whos have got a larger tree for the town square to decorate.
Cindy Lou then finds her Friend Groopert to tell him her plan to talk to Santa. She tells him that the reason why is because she wants her Mom not to work taking care of them. While the tree is going to be lit, The Grinch tries to stop it but ends up being launched into the tree. As The Grinch sees the bright lights, he is reminded of his painful past. He was alone as an orphan when no one wanted him. The Grinch heads home and wants this feeling to stop. So he gets an idea to steal Christmas from everyone.
The next morning, The Grinch prepares to steal Christmas. He reveals to Max that he will dress up like Santa to steal Christmas from the whole town. He heads out to find some reindeer for his plan. After some difficult times, he was able to find one reindeer and name him Fred. Later on, Cindy Lou get her other friend to help her with he new plan. Her plan is to trap Santa to talk to him. At the same time, The Grinch heads to a house to steal a Santa sleigh for his plan. He gets the sleigh and because of their success allows Max and Fred to sleep in the bed with him for one time. In the Morning, The Grinch and Max count how many houses are in Who-ville and how to get there. He makes his plan and shows Max and Fred their new sleigh. As they take it for a test drive, The Grinch sees Fred’s family and lets Fred go. The next day, The Grinch is in his workshop and makes the suit and gadget for the night. As night falls, everyone heads to sleep and it’s time to start the mission.
With the strength of Max, the sleigh heads down to who-ville. He heads into every house and steals everyone presents and decorations. He went to every house and cleaned them out. As he finished, there was one house left. As he steals the tree and goes to eat a cookie and gets into a trap.Cindy Lou heads down stairs and sees Grinch and thinks he is Santa. Cindy Lou asked The Grinch if he could help her Mom not be overworked and that every one should be happy. The Grinch gets her back to bed and takes the rest of her stuff. They make their way to the top of the mountain and morning shines down to empty houses. The Grinch heads farther up the mountain to dump the all the present and decoration. The Grinch look down to see if the Whos were sad but they were happy and singing. See this joy, his heart grew bigger and he wanted to save the presents. With Fred’s help, he was able to return the presents back to the Whos. He apologizes and heads back home for Christmas but Cindy Lou invites him for Christmas dinner. The Grinch eats dinner with the Whos and feel like part of the family.
In my opinion
This movie was a great version of the Grinch retold. It was funny and had some heartwarming moments. It truly showed what Christmas is truly about. The moment where everyone is happy and is surrounded by family. The kindness and joy of knowing you are not alone. I give this a 9/10.
