The head of Capital City’s Choir has been interviewed recently by Sophia Bashore, a member of the Newspaper program. The Cabaret took place about a week ago and was a success. We are all aware of the accomplishments of our music department, but the next big event is nearing.
The Holiday Showcase will be taking place on the 9th of December, this is Michael Brand’s input on the event.
Brand was asked about the motivators for the event. He stated that the Holiday Showcase was made in order to give students a place among the music department. However, he explained that he doesn’t want the showcase to be limited to music. He’s steering toward presenting art and, eventually, culinary arts. Brand also saw an opportunity to take the new CCHS building and transform it into a concert hall.
He was urged to further discuss the groups that had an opportunity to engage in the event. Brand said that Choir, Orchestra, and Band all perform at the showcase. Royal Blues and Jazz Band perform at the dinner before the show. A lovely woman named Annette plays the piano for the arriving members and guests to set the atmosphere. The Art department displays their students’ work and a student designs the annual 12-foot banner. Brand says that the last two years’ banners were displayed near the music wing of the campus. StuCo helps them all prepare. Brand says he aspires to bring the Nichols’ Culinary Program into the Holiday Showcase.
When asked about what he wanted to accomplish with the event, he enthusiastically said that he wanted this event to turn into tradition. He enjoys the way the students are brought together and the way the students seem to look forward to it each year. Brand was then questioned about his desires for the Holiday Showcase. He ended the interview with a lighthearted and wholesome statement, saying that he wants to involve the Nichols’ Culinary students in next year’s event to make it a truly student-run event.
