Quick Summary

iCarly was a show surrounding the story of a girl named Carly Shay along with her friends Sam Puckett and Freddie Benson. This group of friends do a web show called iCarly, where they do funny and random things such as random dancing where they turn on strobe lights. Carly and Sam are the main 2 while Freddie is behind the camera recording it, live to the world. The very first episode was released 21 years ago on September 8th, 2007.

What’s it about?

On iCarly, they do many things people would never do live on the internet, like for one, introducing a young man named, Simon Kendall, who can snort up milk though his nose, and then squirt it out of under his eye! And for another one, a girl named, Taryn James, who can pogo stick whilst playing the trumpet at the same time! The lives they do are quite crazy and unique. They do all sorts of bits such as funny bits, weird bits, and even requested bits.

Other Characters

My personal favorite out of all the bits they do is “Messing With Lewbert”. You see, “Messing With Lewbert” is where the iCarly team pulls funny pranks and jokes on their hotel’s nasty doorman, Lewbert. (Lewbert is considered a “nasty doorman” because he is not your average doorman. He has a wart the size of a grape or strawberry on his face, and a very rude attitude towards everyone!)

The iCarly team doesn’t do the web show all by themselves, they also have Spencer and Gibby! Spencer is Carly’s older brother and or guardian. They live in an apartment building together, and Spencer is the adult of the apartment. This is because their father is in the military and is not home very often. Spencer also works as a sculptor and artist. He created the Bottle Robot, a robot with a body completely made of soda bottles. Sometimes when he handles wiring or is building things, it usually goes up in flames! And I don’t mean, metaphorically. Everything that Spencer tries to make or fix, it actually bursts into flames! Especially one time, when Spencer was covering for Lewbert whilst he was injured due to a Messing With Lewbert bit, Spencer attempted to fix his call bell, which wasn’t working. Spencer got it to make the bell sound it was supposed to make! That being said, seconds later, it bursts into flames. Spencer put out the fire with soda, but minutes later, after talking with Mrs. Benson, Freddie’s mother, the call bell was engulfed in flames again! Even Spencer was flabbergasted!

Gibby is a friend of the iCarly team, or more like a friend to Carly and Freddie, because Sam normally picks on him any chance she gets One time, when Carly, Freddie, Sam and Gibby arrived in their science class, Gibby and Sam were arguing with each other, Carly asked them to stop. Freddie asked what the problem was, Carly then said, “Sam tried to give Gibby a wedgie!” But apparently, it backfired horribly! Instead of giving Gibby a wedgie, Sam actually yanked Gibby’s underwear right out of his pants! Sam responded to the incident by saying, “Like it’s my fault his mom buys him cheapo underwear!”

Marissa Benson, or Mrs. Benson is Freddie’s overprotective and  embarrassing mother, and by embarrassing, I mean, REALLY embarrassing… In one episode, Mrs. Benson walked into Freddie’s school to pick him up, however, Freddie didn’t want his mother to pick him up. While she was talking to Freddie, a crowd started to form around them! Once Ms. Benson noticed and questioned, “So, are all of you Freddie’s friends?” Freddie started to panic and said, “No, mom, they are not my friends-” But then Ms. Benson interrupted saying, “Who wants to see his baby pictures?” Freddie attempted to stop her, but Sam stopped him from speaking by putting her hand over his mouth! Sam found this whole thing hilarious!

My Personal Thoughts

I personally believe that this show was, and still is, one of the greatest comedy shows Nickelodeon has ever made. It had amazing characters, funny scenes, cool props, and awesome guest stars, Including Jack Black in the episode, “iStart a Fan War.” The show is entirely creative, has a lot of unique episodes and ideas, and really has a lot of fun to offer for people watching!
