Gravity Rush is a game on PS4 (Originally on Vita, I know, shush) is a game about a girl who can control the direction of gravity, in a world she doesn’t know, without so much as an identity to go by. So, why am I only now talking about this masterpiece of a duology? Well, because I couldn’t even play it for the longest time. But now, I have completed the game (entirely), and I now get to share my review of it with you all. So, I’m going to talk about Gravity Rush Remastered first, and the next article will cover Gravity Rush 2
The gameplay of Gravity Rush Remastered is rather simple. You can run around, attack, interact with the people of Hekseville, take out Nevi, who are the enemies of the game, pretty basic stuff. The gravity shifting part is the interesting part of this game. You see, Kat has an ability that allows her to shift her gravity for a period of time. She can use this to “fall into the sky”, pick up items and throw them, maybe even escort people, or even slide along the ground. You utilize gravity shift most of the game (duh), so you can easily get a lot of practice in the forms of odd jobs and side quests. There’s only four different side quest paths in Remastered, so don’t expect too much. It’s a Vita game after all.
The story of Remastered centers around Kat and her path to solving her identity crisis. Why do I say that? Because Kat wakes up not even knowing her name. Kat isn’t even her real name, its just one given to her after she helps the police out. From basic criminals to the overwhelming forces of Nevi, Kat deals with the troubles of the town to close each of their Gravity Storms. Of course, there’s more to the story than that, but I don’t want to reveal the entire plot.
In short, Gravity Rush Remastered is a fun, dramatic game that really puts the question of how you’d use your gravity in real life if you could shift it. Would you be a problem? Or would you be a solution? And because Sony made so much money from remastering a game, A second was put out. Next time we will talk about the second half of the duology, Gravity Rush 2. I love this beautiful game, but I think more people deserve to know about it.
