The “13 Original Primes” also known as the “13 Original Transformers” were the first thirteen living being who were created by Primus, who is the creator of all Transformers and their home planet that’s known as Cybertron. Although, before the Transformers became a thing, Primus had been experimenting with a group of 12 different robots that were known as the Covenant.

These 12 robots were based on every astronomy zodiac sign. Their names were Leonicus (Leo), Aries (same name as the zodiac sign), Piscor (Pisces), Libras (Libra), Scorpius (Scorpio), Aquator (Aquarius), Taurotron (Taurus), Cancix (Cancer), Geminator (Gemini), Sagittarii (Sagittarius), Virgol (Virgo), and Capricurn (Capricorn). Primus’ plan was to use these robots to take down Unicron (Primus’ evil twin brother) at Omega Point, which was a sort of large convention. That being said, after the Omega Point, time ended up being reverted, and the instance had basically never happened!

Primus later created a group of the 13 Original Transformers. Each of them had special powers used to fight against Unicron once again. Similarly to Primus and Unicron, each of the 13 Transformers are “multiversal singularities” (One entity throughout reality). During their first big battle with Unicron, many of the Original Primes were killed.

Prima

Prima was chosen to lead the Original 13 against their enemy, Unicron, and is referred to as a Warrior of Light. Prima was the first living being created by Primus. Prima was the original being to bear “The Matrix of Leadership” which is known as the power of Primus and holds a lot of power, which is kept in Prima’s sword. He used his Star Saber with the Matrix of Leadership as the sword hilt.

Megatronus/ The Fallen

Megatronus is referred to as the guardian of entropy, and he is a warrior of darkness. Megatronus was, at some point, cast out of the Original 13 after he killed Solus and betrayed his fellow Primes. Ever since he was cast out of the 13, he’s been known as “The Fallen”.

Alpha Trion

Alpha Trion is an archivist who writes down historical and future events within a legendary book known as The Covenant of Primus. He’s depicted as an ancient mechanoid with a link to Optimus Prime.

Alpha Trion is also known for his incredible knowledge and for advising the other Transformers. He has many spiritual and psychic abilities that were amplified after his ordination.

Nexus

Nexus Prime is an archetypal Combiner. Nexus’ ability is to split his body into separate segments, which can all transform and function individually and differently. There are 5 robots that compromise Nexus Prime. The names are Skyfall, Landquake, Topspin, Heatwave, and Breakaway. Nexus Prime also has components whose names are Cannonspring, Chaindrive, Clocker, Pinion, and Mainspring.

Vector

Vector Prime was appointed by Primus himself to be the guardian of time and space! Vector wields a powerful sword named Rhisling and this sword has the ability to travel across time and between all different types of dimensions. The sword is so sharp he slice open the fabric of reality! When traveling through space, he transforms into an ancient Cybertronian spacecraft that’s armed with cannons.

Solus

Solus Prime is the only female member of the Original 13. Solus is a weapon-smith who has crafted a majority of the 13’s weapons. She weilds a hammer known as “The Forge of Solus Prime” which can craft all kinds of weapons and Transformer body components from basic machinery in a single strike.

Throughout different series and movies, it was implied that Solus had romantic ties with Nexus Prime. Not only that, but The Fallen (Megatronus) murdered her in a fit of jealous rage!

Amalgamous

This Prime was described as a mischievous trickster because he had the ability to change his ability however he wanted. It is said that Amalgamous Prime is the original “Shifter” which is considered a rare type of transformer. While he was a funny Transformer that would play pranks on his friends, he actually had a temper and was quite easily frustrated.

The Liege Maximo

Many consider this Original Prime as the ultimate evil and a natural counterforce to the heroic Prima. Liege Maximo worked against and plotted against his fellow primes after Megatronus had killed Solus. That being said, Liege Maximo was exposed and chased across the galaxy by Alchemist Prime. Liege Maximo is also the original Decepticon.

Alchemist

There hasn’t been much revealed about this Original Prime. As of 2012, he hasn’t appeared in any toy lines or shows. Although, in the 2024 Transformers One movie, Alchemist did make an appearance! The main facts we know about him is that he oversees the development of early civilization of Cybertron with Alpha Trion. After watching over Cybertron, Aclehmist Prime left to hunt down The Liege Maximo for the crimes he had committed.

Onyx

Onyx Prime is the very first Beast Transformer, which is a type of Transformer that can transform into some type of animal. Onyx Prime isn’t shown in very many shows, movies, or toy lines, but he was in the 2024 Transformers One movie. He’s known as a more balanced and elemental quality. He also had a very spiritual side of him that was intriguing to his fellow Primes.

Micronus

Micronus Prime was the very first Mini-Con to exist. Although he is the smallest of the Primes, he possesses loads of power and energy along with a clever mind. He had the ability to predict the actions of others before even they know what they’re gonna do next. In recent years, Micronus Prime went back to the Realm of the Primes where he served as a mentor and spiritual guide to Optimus.

Quintus

Quintus Prime is known as the scientist of the Thirteen Original Primes. His idealism and perfectionist tendencies caused him to argue and butt heads with the other members who weren’t as imaginative as him. Quintus was a believer in all life forms being the most important things in the universe. He believed that life should be encouraged to grow and thrive at all times and at all costs throughout the galaxy. Quintus Prime wields the Emberstone, which is an artifact that can accelerate biological processes in base elements!

Optimus

Optimus Prime is a very brave and inspirational leader who has a strong sense of justice, honor, and has good morals in life. He was a natural born leader and was made to lead the pack and was there for others. Though at times in his youth, he was a bit reckless and arrogant, he grew into a compassionate leader who uses his talents to improve the universe. Optimus Prime has advanced weaponry and martial arts skills, along with speed, durability, and healing capabilities.
