What is Roblox?

Roblox is a free-to-play multi-genre multiplayer/single-player online game that was made by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel, aka The Roblox Corporation. Roblox began development back in 2004 and fully launched in September of 2006 for Windows and then for iOS in 2012, and released for multiple other consoles later like Android, Xbox, Meta Quest, and PlayStation.

As of right now, Roblox has over 380 million monthly users, gains 7 million dollars per day, and has attracted major brands such as Forever 21, Kellogg, Chipotle, and Sega. Roblox has also shaped the way we play within the virtual world by being able to make playing with anyone pro or non-pro tolerable without one being better or worse than the other.  

The basics of Roblox 

The first thing that you do is make yourself an account using an email and password then make your avatar which you can customize using the given features the game gives you for free. Then you’re done, and can freely play the games- there are over 40 million to choose from and many genres such as shooters, tycoon, simulation, puzzle, and role-playing.

Once you’ve done all that then there’s not much need to know- other than you can join/invite others like your friends, family, etc, and reach the objective given to you in the games you play.

My personal opinion of Roblox

I don’t play the game all the time, but I have played the game for at least a couple of hours and I’ve got a good sense of what the game is and all the things you’re able to do. While I don’t hate the game nor do I like it, I and my friend spent countless hours playing some of the weird, scary, and team-based games on Roblox. We enjoyed it, but it did get a bit boring, and after those couple of hours we hopped off and played something else. It’s mainly made for younger kids, and I’ve seen them play the game for nearly the entire day and refuse to sleep… It just might be I’m old and don’t find something like Roblox fun or I’m just not into those types of games, but it’s a good game just not enjoyable to me.

Doors is a solo horror survival game with a bit of puzzle-solving moments and started gaining popularity around mid to late 2023 thanks to content creators like YouTubers and streamers and the general spread through social media. You start in a hotel lobby with multiple elevators, each of which leads you to a different floor with puzzles and monsters that make the experience and escaping the labyrinth-like hotel a challenge compared to just finding the exit and leaving.

                                                                                            Murder Mystery 2

Murder Mystery 2 is a mystery horror-themed game made in 2014. It is one of the most popular games on Roblox. You start voting on one of three maps and are then assigned to one of the three roles- innocent, sheriff, or murderer. The innocent try to either survive or hide against the murderer while the sheriff’s job is to figure out who the murderer is kill him, and save the innocent players. The murderer’s job is to kill everyone till there’s nobody left.

                                                                                                     Jailbreak  

Jailbreak is a game on Roblox that allows you to either become a criminal or a cop. The goal of a criminal is to escape jail, get back on the streets, and get back to doing crimes. The goal of a cop is to put the criminals back behind bars. Prisoners can buy or steal cars and helicopters, do heists, make lots of money, and trade with others.
