Books have a whole team in order to get them written, edited, and published but I personally would like to highlight some of the most popular and famous authors along with some that deserve a little more appreciation for their delightful storytelling. First, we’ll start off with one of my personal favorites, Rick Riordan. Riordan is most famous for The Percy Jackson series, which has a show being released this December, but he also has other series like The Kane Chronicles and The Magnus Chase series. Rick Riordan is a 59-year-old author who mainly writes in the mythology and fantasy genres. Before he became a published author he was a teacher who felt inspired to write Big Red Tequila, the book that launched his career. Next, we have John Green, the author of The Fault In Our Stars. The Fault In Our Stars is one of the best-selling books of all time. John Green no longer writes books but his previous works were inspiring. We have another one of my personal favorite authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder. Wilder actually lived and died in Missouri. She wrote The Little House on The Paraire series which is based on her early life. Her house was turned into a museum after her death where you can learn even more about her. It’s located in Mansfield. Up next is Stephen King otherwise known as the “King of Horror”. He is well known for several of his books such as IT, Pet Sematary, Carrie, and The Shining. Each of the previously listed books also has well-liked and popular movies. King was also once a teacher before he quit and focused on his writing. Ali Hazelwood is a newer author but one who has already made her name in the book community. Her debut book The Love Hypothesis, which came out in 2021, excited readers to read more of her writing and she has not disappointed. If you like romance books and have yet to read any of hers, go ahead and check them out. She’s got new releases for this year and the next planned with people patiently waiting. Sarah J Mass, the author of The Throne Of Glass series is another fantasy writer everyone loves. She also wrote the Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series that has a show in the works that will be released on Hulu. Neil Gaiman is the writer behind Coraline and Good Omens. Coraline is a classic movie to watch during Halloween time and Good Omens was turned into a show that many love. He takes inspiration from the previously mentioned author Stephen King. Last but not least is Jared Reck. If that now sounds just a little familiar it is because he is one of the authors whose books are nominated for the Gateway Award. Reck wrote Donuts and Other Proclamations of Love and will be visiting our school on November 2nd to discuss it and his other book A Short History of the Girl Next Door. So if you want to be able to meet with him, be sure to fill out the form.
