Dogs are very smart animals they bring joy and a smile to your face, help you when you’re down, but also help with health problems. CCHS students voted on top 5 dog breeds and these were the results.
1. Australian Shepherds
Starting with Australian shepherds, they are very active, protective, friendly dogs that love to please and be loyal to their owners. They are usually a mix between Collies and Border Collies. This breed was finally recognized in the year 1991. Back then they used them on farms mostly to herd sheep; over time they began to be great loving able pets. In addition to being herding dogs, Australian Shepherds are very intelligent and serve as “seeing eye” dogs, hearing dogs, drug-sniffing dogs, and search and or rescue dogs.
2. German shepherds
German Shepherds take a lot of work to keep groomed. That being said, they are very loving dogs who love cuddles, playing , and the list goes on and on. They are a very protective, high intelligent dog breed who love to protect their owners and others if in danger. Currently, we see lots of German Shepherds as police dogs and they are very good at their job. Although, back in the day, they were pets or herding dogs. They didn’t have the responsibility to catch people breaking laws.
3. Siberian Husky
The Siberian Husky is incredibly active, independent, mischievous, and playful. They get along fairly well with other dogs and pets and can be quite outgoing! They aren’t meant to be guard dogs, they are more of a sled dog. The thick coat requires brushing weekly, even daily, especially during the shedding season! With the breed being self-cleaning, baths are usually only needed several times a year. Husky’s are lots of work due to there thick fur and keeping them cool in summer times but they are amazing dogs to have by your side as a mans best friend.
4. Pomeranian
Pomeranian’s have large personalities in their tiny bodies. They are sassy, spunky, and often have the confidence of a much larger dog. Pomeranian dogs do well with other pets and love attention. Pomeranians are great companions for many types of families! While the breed can be playful, the dogs don’t require extensive outdoor activity because of their small size. They are great dogs to have if you’re just wanting a breed that is small, kind, and simple.
5. And a result in a tie for Maltipoo and King Charles Spaniel
Starting with Maltipoo, like most crossbreeds, the personality of a Maltipoo depends on the parents and how they have been bred trained. Both parents of the Maltipoo mix are affectionate companion dogs who bond closely to their owners. Maltipoos can vary in size, shape, coat types and temperaments which depend on how they have been bred, but in all cases this is a small companion dog. The Maltipoo can be a first cross (with one Maltese and one Poodle parent, they can be bred back to one of the original breeds or be two Maltipoos bred together.)
Next, we have the King Charles Spaniel, a small-sized companion breed from the United Kingdom, renowned for their affectionate and loving personality. Standing 12 to 13 inches tall at the shoulder, these affectionate dogs are classified as “toy” members of the Spaniel group. Named after the British monarch who popularized the breed, they are known for their friendly, patient, and loving personalities. They form strong attachments with their human companions and do not do well when left alone for long periods of time.
All together, all dog breeds are amazing. They have different ways of living their lives, and all require lots of love and care.
