There are many traditions that make CCHS the home of Cavaliers unique; one of these traditions is the state send offs. Some athletes go to state once, other state qualifiers go to state more than once.
Xander Teseter; who is a member of Bass choir, Chorale, and Royal Blues, before he could go go state he had to receive a (1) or an Exemplary rating at the District Music Festival in order to qualify for state.
Xander shares what his experience was like at districts this year and last year.
“I got to do more music this year compared to last year. Last year I only did a solo and that’s it, compared to this year I was in a sextet, a quartet, and a solo. Another difference was that I wasn’t as nervous. I was really confident this year and really excited to perform. Lastly I got to see way more talented classmates perform than last year which was amazing because they sound really really nice.
One of the really cool facts about Xander is that when his High School singing career started last year he was the first freshman to get a gold medal for a solo at the STATE Music Festival.
Xander tells us what that experience was like. “It made me feel excited and happy. It also made me feel more confident in this year’s districts and state. For my goal for this year and my junior and senior year is to get gold on my solo pieces for state.”
Not everyone can feel the same sense of accomplishment that a state qualifier feels until they are sent off to state,
Xander concludes by telling us what last year’s state send off was like.
“The state send off was the best experience, I got to walk down the learning stairs and feel what was like to be going to state like I saw with other other sports.”
