All over the world 1,000 people come together for the largest game show in history, Beast Games, competing to win a cash prize of $5 million dollars. This show is created by Jimmy Donaldson, widely known for Mr. Beast on the platform of Amazon Prime Video. With a mixture of high intense competition with a test of physical strength/mental endurance, this show is commanding fans attentiveness. Now I know what you might be thinking: is this show worth the hype?
The budget of this show has been reported to be $100 million dollars contributing to the infamous “Beast City” that is near Toronto featuring houses, parks and other infrastructures. Contestants resign in Beast City until they become eliminated. In Beast City they literally do everything, eat, sleep, and breathe. Most importantly they prepare to compete here!! The challenges look like strength or endurance based games with heavy lifting, or even large group competition where you have to earn your spot. Other challenges include bribes with large amounts of money, for example 1 million dollars!! Or even games of trust where teammates either self eliminate or vote others out. One challenge involved contestants being held 100 feet in the air hanging for their lives. This whole entire show is all tied in with luck and chance!
One thing that makes Beast Games stand out from the other game shows that are out there is that it is very unpredictable, it implements social and psychological twists, and also consists of a twist of youtube style with television style. You might think one thing and the next thing you notice is that you are completely wrong. The interaction between the contestants, the hosts and the co-hosts makes the show feel engaging. When you watch you feel like you may be one of the contestants. Everything you see on Mr. Beast’s infamous youtube channel, unique stunt challenges, and big-budget challenges, is all the same but it’s just on a bigger streaming platform.
In my opinion this show is great for binge watching during a great weekend with friends and family. It’s the kind of show where you have all your snacks gathered and a nail biter to move on to the next episode. One episode comes out every Wednesday and every second of an episode is worth it!!
