The CCHS Cheer team is a really great way to step out of your comfort zone. Started seven years ago the team has been a part of state send-offs, pep rallies, athletic events, and they even have their share of competitions.
The two coaches of the CCHS Cheer team are Ms. Collins and Mr Levin.
Mr. Levin shares how he got involved with the cheer team and what that experience has been like.
“ It was something new. Coach Collins and I got along very well and she saw potential in me to help out with the team and provide new or different perspectives.”
Mr Levin then went on to share what the highlight of the year was. “Our season didn’t end with a lot of trophies, however I think our team continued to grow and get better all eason. I think going forward we will continue to be more and more competitive. This year was fun because we were able to continue to support our teams in their post seasons play
Mr. Levin then gave insight on what the tryouts look like for the team.
“We have athletes of varying abilities. It takes a lot of different ability types to have a great team. Our tryouts are a week long process, athletes are scored on teacher recommendations, how well they handle a work out with coach Collier, how quickly they can pick up new routines, and what skills they possess
Mr. Levin finished by giving advice to those who are interested in joining the cheer team.
“Stetch, be loud and over the top, it may feel silly but it looks great. Drink lots of water.”
