Wild Week For the Cavs!

Recap of Capital City baseball 4/7 – 4/11.

Capital City’s return back to Jefferson City they got a long 5 game week. With the first two games against Battle, one game against Marshall, one against Lee’s Summit, and their last game against Gateway Legacy.

Their first game was on April 7th at Battle High School, the Cavs ended up losing 4-8. But the Cavs were not defeated, the next day they hosted Battle where they faced the number two pitcher in the state. Tyler Putnam, a D1 Tennessee commit who sits around 95 mph. e Cavs had their ace John Langston start the game, he held Battle to 3 runs which gave the Cavs a chance to beat Battle. 1-3 in the 6th inning, Tyler Putnam comes out of the game and the Cavs know this is their time to strike. The Cavs go

on a hitting streak to gain the lead. Shea Clark came in to finish the last two innings and he shut Battle down only letting them score one run. The Cavs won the game 5-4 celebrating Shea Clark on his ability to come in and shut them down.

Their next game was against Marshall who held a (5-4) record before facing the Cavs. Porter Bax started the game only letting up 2 runs in 5 innings. Makai Petty came into the game to close out the 6th. The Cavs won the game 14-2 which was a major boost for them knowing the next team they would have to play next.

The weekend games for the Cavs in the River City Festival started with them facing Lee’s Summit. As of that game that was the most all around solid team the Cavs have seen. Owen Dorsey started the game only letting Lee’s Summit score one run. In the 7th inning Makai Petty came in with one out and a guy on second. After a couple infield errors and a double to have Lee’s Summit go up 5-3 on the Cavs this was their last chance to win. But sadly the Cavs could not push through and Lee’s Summit won 5-3.

Their last game was against Gateway Legacy. Grady O’Brien. Grady went a few innings but started getting into trouble after he got a ball hit off of his knee. The Cavs brought Makai Petty back in to throw. He threw 5 innings only letting up 1 run. The Cavs won that game 8-6 to close out the week.

The Cavs have another long week of baseball, make sure you come out and support. The Cavs can’t do it all by themselves.

Makai Petty, Plume Staff

Makai Petty, a Senior at Capital City High School, is involved in the school’s baseball team. In his free time he likes to go and play golf with his fellow CCHS baseball teammates. Though he may play baseball and golf in his free time his true passion is working with nature, Makai plans on working for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). Makai gets his love of nature from his grandfather who used to take him to different wildlife parks and would teach him about different animals and plant life. Makai is not only interested in wildlife, he is also interested in traveling the world. He is somewhat a well traveled person, going to Mexico six times and to the Dominican 3 times. But Makai can’t stay away from his love of wildlife; he begs his family to take snorkeling trips to go look at coral reefs to look at all the life below the water. Makai doesn’t only enjoy wildlife, he also has a strong passion for music. His family and teammates are always in shock when he knows every single word for word that they may play at family gatherings or at baseball games. Makai’s favorite artist is Kanye West, his favorite song being “Through the wire”. Makai considers himself a remotely accomplished person, from how much he has traveled and experienced. Makai’s advice for other students is, “Make memories, you only live once. You might as well make the most of it.
