Why is it sixty-five degrees in the middle of the winter? Earth’s average surface temperature in 2024 was 2.3 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the 20th century baseline, this broke the record since record keeping that began in 1880. Another change in our weather is that our summers are extending and winters are shorter.
Your warm summer days have stretched from 78 to 95 days. Winter on the other hand has shrinked from 124 days to 115. You may think this is harmless and even a good thing to have longer summer days but this little shift will affect animals’ natural activities, stunt the growth of the crops we eat, and even boost seasonal allergies and sickness outbreaks.

This change is due to global warming that has increased in speed due to us humans. Human activities like burning fossil fuels, deforestation, burning coal, etc. have contributed to the changes we are witnessing. Some things we do day to day that you may not realize are harmful are driving, throwing away trash, using the internet, water use, even using ChatGPT are all escalating the symptoms of climate change.
Climate change is expected to intensify weather causing heavier rain and flooding, stronger storms, more droughts, and increased wildfires.
