Background of Oguri Cap
Oguri
Cap was foaled on March 27, 1985 by his Dam, White Narubi and Sire, Dancing Cap. Oguri Cap was born with weak legs, causing him to be unable to feed off his mother, this made his mother view him as a failure, because she was unable to feed him. This caused the staff at Inaba Farm to intervene and manually feed Oguri Cap because his mother would simply reject feeding him. Lastly, due to Oguri Cap not being able to feed from his mother, he would instead rely on eating grass to get his nutrients and energy.

The Retirement of Oguri Cap 🙁
Oguri Cap had to unfortunately retire due to rapid declining of physical performance during his races and even horrible race results, such as placing 6th and a career-worst, 11th place in 1990. The owner had
to retire Oguri Cap not only because of these results, but also because people would send threats to Oguri Cap because of his decline in physical performance. Later on, he ran one final race before his complete retirement, and this would shock everyone by Oguri Cap winning by 3/4 of a length (only winning by 0.1 milliseconds), this was known as his “Miracle” finish.
Oguri’s Life After Retirement
After retiring, Oguri Cap became a breeding stud, but unfortunately, he was unable to have high-level offspring for racing, but he was able to have over 340 foals. Unfortunately, after all of this, he had to completely retire in 2007
because he was getting too old for being a breeding stud, so he became a pensioned stallion. Oguri Cap was doing well for his age in 2008, he had great health, and was thriving, he even returned to the racetrack and greeted his fans.
The Incident of Oguri Cap That Shocked Many 🙁
On the 3rd of July in 2010, Cap had an incident on the pasture in the Yushun Stallion Station which is located in Hokkaido, Japan. The incident happened at around 2pm, where Oguri Cap was spotted lying on the pasture after falling from either running around or grazing.
When Oguri Cap was being checked after his incident, he had an x-ray checkup and it was discovered that he had fractured his right hind shin, making him unable to walk and even stand. At the age of 25, Oguri Cap was unable to go through the surgery because he was too old and the surgery could cause more harm, so they unfortunately decided to euthanise Oguri Cap on the 3rd of July, 2010.. May Oguri Cap rest well, dreaming of eating grass and sleeping in warm sunny clouds.. Rest well.. Oguri Cap..
