As the enrollment deadline approaches, CCHS students and incoming freshmen should be aware of their options for the next school year. In fall 2026, CCHS is offering several new courses.
The first is ACT Prep, which is a semester-long elective available to rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors. In this course, students will study, practice, and learn testing strategies that will prepare them for success in all four sections of the ACT. All juniors are required to take the ACT, and there are numerous other opportunities to take the test throughout high school. Students who want to get a high score on the ACT may benefit from this class.
Starting next year, students will also be able to take American Sign Language I. This is a year-long class which accounts for one credit of World Languages. In subsequent years, the program will expand to have ASL II and subsequent classes, so that students can acquire two credits of the same World Language, which many colleges require. In this class, students will learn the basic vocabulary and grammar of ASL as well as learning about American Deaf culture.
There are also two new classes in the Performing Arts category, which are Guitar I and Piano. Each of these classes is a semester long and counts for a half credit of Fine Arts. Students will learn music notation and basic musical theory in these classes.
In addition to these new courses, there are of course many exciting classes that are offered by CCHS every year or every other year. Students should not hesitate to explore the opportunities for classes in the 2026-27 Academic Planning Guide or by talking to their counselors.
