We Ranked All Of The Red Bull Flavors

We+Ranked+All+Of+The+Red+Bull+Flavors

Yumia Robben

For about two years now I have been an avid Red Bull drinker. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for a night of work or early school morning. Now the question is raised; which Red Bull is the best flavor? To remove bias, I have invited Christian Garza and Justin Yacob to taste test every Red Bull flavor on the market. Each Red Bull will be ranked on initial reaction (including the look of the can, the color of the drink, and smell) taste, carbonation, and chugabilty on a scale of 1-10.

Red Bull Original

Initial Reaction

The can is a classic. The use of primary colors is very visually pleasing. The color of the drink itself is not very appealing. It’s very similar to dehydrated urine. The smell has a strong sense of bubble gum and apple.

5.2/10

Taste

The only way we could describe the flavor was this drink was by drinking gasoline and smelling apple juice simultaneously. It was very confusing for the taste buds. Not the worst, not the best.

6/10

Chugubility

Very smooth chug! Chugging actually made the flavor more tolerable.

7.8/10

Carbonation

Lacking and disappointing

Sugar-Free Redbull

Initial Reaction

We love the baby blue on this can. The blue tab is also very tasteful. The overall design is nicer than the original. The smell is very similar to the original, just lighter.

8/10

Taste

This drink had the weirdest aftertaste. Awful flavor. It has diet vibes.

4/10

Carbonation

Very mid, nothing else to say

5/10

Chugability

You could, but why would you want to?

Blueberry

Initial Reaction

It has a pretty minimalistic design but the color brings it to life. We all agreed that the light blue lettering compliments the dark color of the can very well. The bulls on this are shiny and metallic which Justin and I prefer to the matte. Christian prefers the matte because he just wants to be different. At first, after smelling I was just getting blueberry pie but after further thought, it reminded me more of acai. Justin stated that it reminded him of Singapore. The drink itself was the color of a grape Jolly Rancher.

7.3/10

Taste

It very surprisingly tasted like actual blueberries! There was also a welcomed hint of blackberry. There was no weird aftertaste. Christian compared it to biting into a blueberry that’s in a blueberry muffin. Not many complaints.

8/10

Carbonation

Less than expected.

4/10

Chugability

It was a pretty easy chug besides the acidity.

Fig Apple (Winter Edition)

Initial Reaction

The can is beautiful but we all agreed that the lettering should have been dark red. The smell is mainly just apples with a hint of floralness from the fig.

6.5/10

Taste

It tasted like a car freshener. The fig completely ruined the apple flavor. We wanted more from this

4.5/10

Carbonation

It was standard, nothing special.

5/10

Chugability

We would never do it voluntarily.

Peach Nectarine

Initial Reaction

The can was very pretty but we wish the red was a little more orange tinted. When we cracked open the can we were absolutely shocked at the color. It was clear! The smell was very nice. It was like walking through a peach orchard.

7.5/10

Taste

This Red Bull feels like a hug on the tongue. It is the girl at the party that everyone stops and stares at. The nectarine compliments the peach very well.

9/10

Carbonation

The bubbles went away very quickly. Very disappointing.

3.5/10

Chugability

We could definitely chug three of these easily.

Watermelon

Initial Reaction

The design of this can does not do justice to the actual color of the drink. It is blood red. The can would be better if it matched this color. The smell is very light. It smells like generic candy.

5/10

Taste

It tastes like the Kona Ice truck syrup. It is very strong. It also has a very odd aftertaste.

3.5/10

Carbonation

It’s nothing special.

6/10

Chugability

This is the Red Bull you chug when you’re sad. This Red Bull is drunk to feel something.

Coconut Berry

Initial Reaction

The can itself is very boring but the blue lettering is very pretty. More blue on the can would make it so much better. The smell has a very strong conditioner feel.

4/10

Taste

The first taste was good. It was very similar to a blue Sour Patch kid but then the coconut hit. It was so nasty. It was like drinking shampoo.

3.5/10

Carbonation

It had a decent carbonation level that complimented the initial berry flavor very nicely.

5/10

Chugabilty

Though the coconut flavor was not welcomed in this drink it made for a very smooth chug. If I was forced to consume this drink chugging would be the way to go.

Dragon Fruit

Initial Reaction

The first question that came to mind was “why is the can green?”. We all agreed that they should have used a magenta and white for the design of this can. The smell had a strong scent of battery acid and cough medicine. It was a concerning start, to say the least.

3.5/10

Taste

The drink itself actually tasted like dragon fruit, but the sugar syrup seemed to be too much.

6.8/10

Carbonation

It felt like a still drink.

1.5/10

Chugability

This is the drink you chug before a big test. Very smooth chug and minimum burbs.

Tropical

Initial Reaction

This can is simply ugly. Not even the shine of the metal saved this one. It smells like Febreeze and looks like urine.

3/10

Taste

This drink tasted like Febreeze as much as it smelled like it. The sweetness saved it a little bit.

4/10

Carbonation

Nothing special…

5/10

Chugabilty

Chugging this drink is the only way to finish a whole one.

After time and consideration from professional tired people the best Red Bull flavor has been decided. Peach Nectarine is the official best Red Bull flavor!

Honorable mention to Pomegranate. You will be forever missed.
