On March 13th, 2024, Capital City held a blood drive! (Sponsored by the Girl’s Basketball Team and Newspaper.) We managed to reach the goal needed to earn the Red Cross scholarship so thank you to everyone who showed up to donate blood! Also, did you know 1 pint/1 unit of blood can save up to 3 people in need? That means the 42 people who donated are potentially saving up to 126 people who need it!
As a prize to the grade level that donated the most pints of blood by the end of the day, The Red Cross is gifting a pizza party! If you’re wondering which grade won the pizza party…. in 3rd place, sophomores donated 6 pints. In second place, Seniors donated 12 pints. And in first place…..THE JUNIORS who donated 20 pints of blood! Congrats to the Juniors who donated blood to earn a pizza party. (4 teachers chipped in to donate as well.)
Speaking of prizes, there was a gift box The Red Cross funded to give to a randomly drawn student who donated! The gift box consisted of a LARGE variety of candies along with a large blue Stanley Cup and 4 tickets to Worlds of Fun!
The winner of the draw was a senior named Kaleb Bebeszko! Congrats and we hope you enjoy your prize!
I also wanted to give a shoutout to the Newspaper teacher, Ms. Patzwald, who was one of the four teachers who showed up to donate to the blood drive.
Here’s a couple of other photos of the drive and things relating to the drive!
