Movie Reveiw: Night Swim

Movie+Reveiw%3A+Night+Swim

Quick Summary:

Night Swim is a newly released horror movie about a family who endured many different moving situations because of the father being a huge baseball star. They move to a new city where they are thinking of really settling down considering their baseball star father had an awful injury, causing an abrupt end in his career. In their shopping for houses, they find their perfect match. They end up finding some more interesting things within this house.

This movie just came out a few weeks ago and surprisingly already has quite low ratings and 333 reviews.

Movie Reviews:

There are currently 469 ratings, averaging 2.4 / 5 stars.

  • One reviewer gave the movie a 5/5, saying “So Fresh: an exciting take on the horror genre.”
  • Another reviewer gave the movie a harsh 1/5, stating “With a script that plays out like it was written by ChatGPT, we have a family looking for a fresh start by moving into a new house. Dad’s sick but gets better when he swims in the pool. The rest is generic horror at its best. I’m sure you can predict every scene without having seen a single frame of this movie.”
  • Rating the movie 4/5 stars, this reviewer explains, “Other than a few seemingly unnecessary scenes and a couple small plot holes, the movie as a whole was very well done and creative.”
  • The last reviewer I’m listing gave Night Swim a 1/5. “Less of a horror film, it’s more of a family drama.”

In my opinion, the movie was terrifying, giving plenty of jump scares that really made me jump. Although, a lot of scenes and overall feel of the movie remind me of other horror movies such as “It” and “Smile.” That being said, I think the story was pretty good, with well-played acting, and scenes that made me shiver in fear. If you plan on seeing this movie, be ready for a lot of jumpscares and horrifying clips.
