The Capital City Book Club, a great extracurricular activity within the school that only a few students have discovered. It offers many opportunities to have your own community within such a large community like CCHS. You get to share your voice and opinions of books from tons of genres and discuss diverse topics.
The Book Club meets in two groups on each Wednesday , one meeting before school in the morning, the other meeting during 6th hour Cav time. The Book Club is very cohesive with all the member’s schedules and very relaxed with reading stop points. Danille B, current member of CCHS Book Club exclaims “Each week we chose how much of book we wanna read”
The club read the book Six of Crows by Leigh Burdugo, first semester. This semester, depending on what pace they chose to read as a group, they should finish their books within the next few weeks. Chloe E, another member of Book Club explained “ There are lots of choices for what book we are going to read next and i like being able to keep the books after reading”
Miss Patty Schweitzer, in charge of CCHS Book Clubs, when asked about the great new things about book club, answers “New books arrived and google classroom is new this year for people to join.” Schweitzer has also been very keen on promoting a great study website for all students to access. The website is also filled with online comic books and fun reading opportunities. You can find it at cchs.jcschools.us/library-media and fulfill all your study needs!
