Capital City Vocal Arts has many traditions that make the program stand out and give it a little bit of flair. One such event is the TJMS POPS Concert. This concert specifically is specially designed to give new in-coming Freshmen (Current 8th grade student) a glimpse of what High School Vocal Arts is like.
The concert featured TJMS (6th Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade Choir). These talented performers wowed and surprised the audience by singing songs such as “Golden”, “What a beautiful morning” and “September”. These students were performing with groups such as Bass Choir, Treble Choir, Chorale, and The Royal Blues.
A few of CCHS’s Students including Josiah Cobian (9), Dylan Nguyen (9), and Maja Korabiewska (12) share their views of the concert.
Josiah shares what the concert was like for him “For me the pops concert was a beautiful collaboration between the middle schoolers choirs and high school. As someone who has sang in the pops concert for both middle and high school I very much recognize the fun and choral vibe it brings to CCHS and out community. And I can’t wait for next year.”
Dylan Shares what made the concert unique “
Since it was a pops concert, everyone was able to be comfortable with songs they were familiar with I’d say. It helps people get into singing a lot more with the magic of modern pop music today”
Maja then shared what her favorite part of the concert was “I think singing the songs we did all together with the middle school like better place or lovely day”
The Event was enjoyed not just enjoyed by the Singers who performed but by the audience members who attended the concert.
Ryan Richardson an assistant principal at CCHS attended the concert and had this to say about the performance
“Our High School choirs sound fantastic. There is so much talent due to the hard work that has been put in. I think the coolest part of this for me was to hear each grade level sing and gear the progression of how each grade level built upon the other. I Think it is fantastic for our younger students to hear what they can aspire to sound like when they get to the high school level.
