Big week for the Cavs as they play their home town rivals. One of these games also includes the Cavaliers last home game for the rest of the year. One last game for the Seniors to show their biggest rival who runs the city.

Capital City plays their first rivalry game on February 17th at Helias at 7. Helias has a current record of 12-10, Helias vs Capital City is normally never a close game, Capital City has always come in as the underdog with the final scores showing that Helias has a major advantage against the Cavs. But this year was different, though Capital City lost they put up a great fight losing 62-69. The Cavs, while distraught about this loss, know that this was a huge stepping stone proving that they can play against a great team.
Moving to later in the week the biggest game for the Cavs was supposed to start at 7:30, but with the JV game going into OT the game had to wait. As the court starts to get packed with students all around Jefferson City, and parents coming in from both schools to cheer on the kids, the energy in the atmosphere changes. A feeling of intensity, a feeling of wanting to know who the victor would be had everyone hyped up and ready for the big game.

After a hard fight from the JV Cavs team the varsity rolls out. After warm ups and an introduction of both teams the game finally tips off around 8:30. Throughout the game the Cavaliers showed great defense, showing that they had been thoroughly preparing for the Jays. The Cavs had great offense and lock down defense all night which ended up locking in the 66-54 Cavalier win.
As the time ended the student section stormed the court surrounding and cheering on the members of the team, they celebrated the win as a school with a trophy of everyone in the student section with the Cavs basketball Captain Grady Payton holding the trophy.
